Amanda Thibault is an American journalist from the Tampa Bay Area currently serving as a Chief Meteorologist and co-host of “This Place in History” for the Local 22/44 News since May of 2015.
Thibault volunteers as a coach with Girls on the Run every Spring and helps organize Nexstar’s Founder’s Day of Caring community service project each year. Amanda also mentored broadcast meteorology students at NVU-Lyndon in the Fall 2019 semester.
During her spare time, Amanda loves Hiking and snow-shoeing. She in addition loves exploring the region and being outdoors as much as possible with her husband Rene and golden retriever Scout. Amanda also enjoys watching football and fixing up their 120-year-old Vermont farmhouse.

Thibault is an American journalist from the Tampa Bay Area working for Local 22/44 News since May of 2015 as Chief Meteorologist and co-host of “This Place in History”.
Thibault grew up fascinated with those infamous afternoons Florida thunderstorms. In the year 2004, four hurricanes crisscrossed the state and that cemented her love for weather.
Amanda is a proud graduate of Florida State University where she earned her B.S. degree in Meteorology. There she also earned minors in Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
She then moved to the Center for Severe Weather Research, based in Boulder, Colorado, for the Spring 2012 tornado season upon graduation. The fans of Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers series remember CSWR for the Doppler on Wheels and Tornado Intercept Vehicle. Amanda experienced an EF-2 tornado striking the lead Scout vehicle in which she was riding while working with the ROTATE (Radar Observations of Tornadoes and Thunderstorms Experiment) team. She was then working on researching low-level wind data in tornadoes. The team then participated in a search-and-rescue in Russell, Kansas.
Amanda had previously worked at KMOT NBC North Dakota News in Minot, ND as Weather Director for three years. Then she covered everything from blizzards and -80° wind chill to supercell thunderstorms, before moving to Vermont.
She had worked for more than four years waking up bright and early to deliver the forecast on Local 22 News This Morning and the Local 44 Morning Brew. Amanda is now in the evenings on Local 22 at 6, 7, and 11 PM and Local 44 at 10 PM. She loves bringing the past to life weekly at ‘This Place in History, a segment co-hosted with the Vermont Historical Society.
