Betsy Singer Biography
Betsy Singer is an American journalist who serves as the weekday news anchor at 5:00 & 6:30 on ABC 6 News in Rochester. She started at ABC 6 News in July of 2009. Betsy got her start in television news as a reporter and anchor in Columbus, Mississippi at WCBI. From there she was the weekend anchor for WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida. She also worked as a reporter/anchor for WHBQ in Memphis, TN where she covered the Jonesboro, AR school shooting in 1998 which was the turning point of her career. She decided to get out of television and focus on her family back in MN and WI.

As the youngest of seven, Betsy returned home and worked as a job coach for people with developmental disabilities in the Winona area. Within a year, the local NBC affiliate in Rochester, MN asked her to be the 6:00 and 10:00 evening anchor where she met and married her husband, Ken Quattrin. The two were married in 2001 and have two sons.

Betsy is an avid supporter of people with developmental disabilities and sits on numerous boards and committees that advocate and raise money for people with special needs. When not volunteering for various community events you’ll find her spending time with her parents in the Winona area.

Betsy joined ABC 6 News in July 2009. It is the NBC affiliate in Rochester, Minnesota. She serves as the weekday news anchor at 5:00 & 6:30 on ABC 6 News in Rochester. Betsy had been away from television for two years. Though she was previously at KTTC for six years, she did not return to the station.
Before her comeback to Minnesota, Singer had a longing to be closer to home. “Let the naysayers say what they will, I prayed big-time about this. This is solely about my family,” she told the Rochester Post-Bulletin. “I was happy out of the TV. I was good with that.
Betsy’s 5 p.m. news desk was vacated by Ericka Miller who was then moved to anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts with Brandon McElwain. Her position’s flexibility allows her to work on special projects.
