Dave Liniger Family
Dave was born in the year 1945 in the city of Marian, Indiana. After graduating from the University of Indiana, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in different countries. Before he was deployed abroad, he bought a house at a very low price, fixed it up, painted it, and landscaped it, and then sold it for a profit of $4,000. This was the beginning of his interest in real estate.
He had saved enough money from his three part-time jobs to purchase the property. After he had returned to the United States and was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona, he carried on with his previous efforts in the real estate market. His friends from the military helped him buy houses, then they fixed them up and sold them for a profit. In Denver, where he was living at the time, he helped establish RE/MAX International, Inc., after having previously worked for two different types of real estate brokerages.

1945 saw the birth of Gail Liniger in St. Louis, Missouri, and she received her education at the University of Southern Illinois, where she earned a degree in Marketing. Gail made the move to Denver in 1971, the same year she became RE/first MAX’s employee, and the same year she was elevated to the position of Vice President. In 1978, she was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President, and in 1979, she was chosen as President. When David and Gail finally tied the knot, it was 11 years after the establishment of the business.
Their wedding, which was scheduled for 1983, was delayed. Gail got into an accident exactly one week before the couple was scheduled to get married. Because of her injuries, she had to spend many weeks in the hospital. She was left paralyzed on the left side as a result of a catastrophic brain injury that she sustained. Gail achieved a miraculous recovery, which inspires and drives individuals both inside and outside of the RE/MAX business. Her recovery was made possible by Dave’s constant support as well as her time spent at Craig Rehabilitation Hospital. After some time, in 1984, the pair were married.
In addition to the Linigers’ enthusiasm for real estate, their love of golf was the driving force behind the transformation of their 222-acre ranch into a magnificent 18-hole golf club that was designed by Jim Engh and given the name Sanctuary. The ranch was initially intended to house approximately 100 Arabian horses. Since its opening in 1997, Sanctuary has been predominantly utilized by charitable organizations as a means to raise revenue. It has been the site of over 23 charity golf events, which have collectively raised over $28 million.
The Linigers are also among the co-founders of The Wildlife Experience, which is a facility in southeast Denver that spans a total area of 100,000 square feet and operates as a conservation and community center. Its mission is to foster an appreciation for the natural world and an awareness of the need to preserve it through the use of art and education.
Both Dave and Gail have a strong dedication to their community and to one another. They give a large amount of money from their own pockets to a variety of charitable organizations, causes, and initiatives that benefit children, the homeless, and other privately chosen organizations. The Linigers’ influence on Denver, the real estate market, and the community will be felt for many years to come as a direct result of the contributions they have made.
