When Hart first joined News 4, it was in the year 1997. Since he began his career in the news business as a correspondent, he has worked his way up through the ranks to reach the position of fundamental anchor.
Over the course of his career, Joe has reported on a wide variety of important stories. During his time filling in as an anchor in Washington State, he was given the opportunity to see and write about the execution of a prisoner; it is an experience that he said he will never forget.
In addition to this, he discussed President Clinton’s visit to Lake Tahoe in 1997 as well as the controversial damage done to Lake Davis in the same year. On a more humorous note, Joe was honored to carry the Olympic Torch at the 2002 Winter Games in addition to having the opportunity to ride in an Air Force jet stream out at Fallon (no, he did not become unwell during this experience).
Recently, Joe has been presented with a few prestigious awards in recognition of his efforts. These awards include the Edward R. Murrow Award, the NorCal RTNDA Award for best news composition, and the Top TV Anchor Award, which was presented by the Reno Press Club.
When Joe was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in August of 2007, he was recognized for his many years of accomplishment and dedication to the Reno community. This honor came as a result of his acceptance into the hall.
