Kyrie Irving Biography
Kyrie Irving (born Kyrie Andrew Irving) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named the Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. A six-time All-Star and two-time member of the All-NBA Team, he won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
Irving played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils before joining the Cavaliers in 2011. He won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2014 All-Star Game. In the 2016 NBA Finals, he made a three-point field goal with 53 seconds remaining in a tied Game 7 to help lead the Cavaliers to a championship over the Golden State Warriors.
After losing a rematch with the Warriors in the 2017 Finals, Irving requested a trade and was dealt with the Boston Celtics. He played as a Celtic for two seasons, after which he signed with the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent in 2019. He has also played for the United States national team, with which he won gold at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2018, he starred in the film Uncle Drew.

They have not publicly confirmed their relationship, and both have attempted to keep their romance far from the public eye since the very beginning. But the Nets’ point guard has quietly included her in the moving short films he shares on Instagram. On Nov 11, his reported girlfriend and perhaps fiancée appeared in his short video biography. Irving captioned the post, “Thank you @instagram for capturing my 3 min autobiography, And @rocnationsports for helping to tell my side of the story.”
The slideshow of photos includes a picture of the couple kissing on a bench, and while the video plays Irving’s voice says, “Women in my family hold a very special place as queens.” Back In September, the couple was spotted out by TMZ, and Golden was rocking a huge diamond on her wedding finger. The sighting happened right after Irving signed a $141 million blockbuster contract with the Nets.
Irving was once engaged to singer Kehlani, but they never married. Their relationship ended in 2016 after rumors surfaced that Kehlani cheated. However, in a since-deleted Instagram post, Irving penned a message to his former betrothed, who was getting an onslaught of hate messages following their break up.

Kyrie and Kevin Durant haven’t been able to show what they’re really capable of this season with each dealing with injuries. It was expected for Durant to miss the entire season due to a torn Achilles tendon, but Irving has had some serious injury problems of his own.
Irving missed 26 games earlier in the season due to a shoulder injury but returned to action in mid-January. He played in nine games and put together some magical performances, including a 54-point effort in a win over the Chicago Bulls. However, the pain in his shoulder led to the decision of having arthroscopic surgery to fix it, which would end his season. On Tuesday, the team announced that Irving underwent successful surgery to “relieve a right shoulder impingement.”
The surgery will hopefully fix the shoulder issues Irving’s been experiencing throughout this season, because according to Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson, the pain in his shoulder isn’t the result of one single play or moment but rather something that’s been continuously bothering him over time, via ESPN.
