Michael is a very secretive person when it comes to his personal life. Currently, it is not clear if Michael is married or single but the information will be updated as soon as it is available. He loves living in the city of Syracuse, rooting for Syracuse University’s Men’s Basketball team, and walking his dog dachshund, Kaiser. Michael Benny And Allison Bybee Script

Michael spoke on the controversy surrounding a script he read on CNY Central for station owner Sinclair Broadcast Group. Benny and Allison Bybee appear in a video compilation showing TV anchors at Sinclair-owned stations across the country in a promo echoing President Donald Trump’s constant attacks on “fake news” media. Critics say it reflects the company’s right-wing agenda without disclosing a political bias.

“The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media,” Benny and Bybee said on CNY Central’s CBS 5 (WTVH) last month. “Some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda… This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.” CNY Central declined to comment for days, but Benny finally spoke out in a lengthy Facebook post on Wednesday night. Channel 5 | Syracuse

Michael anchors the CBS 5 News at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m. Prior to joining CNY Central in 2000, Michael was the morning anchor at WBNG-TV in Binghamton, N.Y. He was honored with the Newcomer of the Year Award in 2001 by the Syracuse Press Club. He has traveled the country covering events such as the 9/11 attacks, space shuttle launches and Syracuse University’s victory in the 2003 NCAA basketball tournament in New Orleans.

Michael was the executive producer of WTVH.  WTVH-CBS 5 was devastated on March 2, 2009, when its owner merged the CBS affiliate with WSTM-NBC 3 and its sister station WSTQ-CW 6. More than three dozen WTVH news and production staffers were laid off. After chatting with their boss, Mulcahy and Robinson tossed Monday evening’s broadcast to Michael Benny. Currently a member of the merger transition team, Micheal is one of about five Channel 5 news employees to hang onto a job. The entire WTVH sales staff has apparently been retained.

On March 2, 2009, evening telecast, Micheal thanked the WTVH audience for its “loyalty” before launching into a story about Monday’s massive Wall Street stock slump.
