Mickey Ferguson WBRC FOX 6 News
Good Day, Alabama’s primary climatologist, Ferguson has been with the show since its inception. On October 21, 1987, he launched his career in television by beginning work as a newsmaker at WJSU-TV in Anniston, Alabama.
His previous attempt at broadcasting in real time was unsuccessful, but he salvaged the situation by agreeing to conduct morning news refreshes. Mickey explained that he had the luxury to sleep in because no one else had to get up and be on at 4:20 in the morning.
As time went on, I began disclosing information and anchoring the final portion of the weekly program. In 1990, he uprooted his life and relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where he took a job with WBMG-TV, the local CBS affiliate.
There, he was responsible for securing the broadcasts at the end of the week and providing the details during the week. However, after a couple of stints of watching television for an extended amount of time, Mickey decided to give himself a break and try his hand at working in the family bureau-making business.
That didn’t keep going long. Mickey says, “Well, I figured I might depart, although the bug had torn into me.” “Well, the bug had torn into me.” Mickey decided to try out for an end-of-the-week climate job at WVTM-TV because he was currently immovably held captive by television. This led to the birth of Mickey’s climate vocation.
In point of fact, Mickey ended up conducting morning cut-ins; the only difference is that this time he reported the weather forecast rather than the news. Even though he enjoyed doing the weather, he eventually had to look for another TV home because of budget cuts.
Mickey referred to his work at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, where he was a co-host of the neighborhood morning show and he also provided an assessment of the weather.
After Mickey had been at WBRC for three years, the company offered him a position in the morning climate department, and he accepted it. Since Mickey began his employment at WBRC, there have been some shifts in the status quo.
The current schedule for Great Day Alabama airs for a total of five hours each workday. “That is a lot of climate data from 4 a.m. until 9 a.m. every workday morning, yet I realize individuals watch or tune in to our news, climate, and traffic data on various occasions while they’re getting ready for work or school,” Mickey says he’s for the longest time been itching to work for WBRC. “That is a lot of climate data from 4 a.m. until 9 a.m. every workday morning.”
In spite of the fact that it took him a decade and a half to get here, viewers of Good Day Alabama may now take advantage of his peculiar interpretation of the weather on weekday mornings.
