Trace Cyrus born Neil Timothy Helson is an American musician vocalist, guitarist, and band artist by profession. He is the son of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and brother of recording artists Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus, he is the backing vocalist and bassist of the band Metro Station. He left the band in 2010 but returned in 2014. In 2010, he began providing vocals and guitar in the pop-rock band Ashland HIGH. He also owns the clothing company From Backseats to Bedrooms.

When he was being adopted, his name was legally changed to Trace Dempsey Cyrus.

On December 7, 2018, Trace Cyrus announced that he is engaged to Lauren Sanders after he popped the question to his girlfriend model Taylor Lauren Sanders on Friday later sharing the news to his Instagram followers. Age and distance put a strain on Demi Lovato‘s fledgling romance with Trace Cyrus, and the couple split, Cyrus tells PEOPLE exclusively. He stated that Demi is one of his good friends and he definitely became very, very close with her in the past few months, and it’s something he really wanted to make work.
But unfortunately, they both had very busy schedules. He continued to say that at that time there were both on tour right,“I’m always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can’t work out at this time.”

Cyrus co-wrote a song called “Country Music Has the Blues” on Billy Ray’s 2006 album Wanna Be Your Joe in 2006. The song features guest appearances by Loretta Lynn and George Jones. Trace was a guitarist and vocalist in the pop-rock band Metro Station.
In early 2006 he started the band with Mason Musso when their mothers set them up to do a jam together since Musso’s brother Mitchel is a Hannah Montana cast member. The band was signed by Columbia Records after an intern at the record label saw their MySpace page.
Cyrus appeared with Musso on MTV’s Total Request Live on June 9, 2008. Their band along with Maine were the two special guest acts on the 2008 Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour, co-headlined by Boys Like Girls and Good Charlotte. Metro Station parted ways in early 2010.
He featured in a song called “Hovering” on Miley’s album in 2008, Breakout in the Deluxe Edition. In the same year, he appeared in the music video for the song “Somebody Said a Prayer” for the lead single for Billy Ray’s album, Back to Tennessee. In 2010, he was featured in the song, “Alive” for Billy Ray’s band, Brother Clyde.
Cyrus formed a pop band called Ashland HIGH in early 2010. Trace provided vocals and guitar on a single entitled “French Kiss”. Ashland HIGH has released demos of songs titled “Break It Down” and “Pretty Girls” on the band’s MySpace page. Ashland HIGH has released two albums, “Geronimo” and “Drugstore Cowboy” as of 2013.
Cyrus returned as a member of Metro Station with the band releasing a single titled “Love & War” in August 2014. The band has since released a second studio album titled Savior.

Trace returned to the band on August 13, 2014, four years after previously leaving. Shortly after Cyrus’ return, the band released a new single titled “Love & War” and announced the band’s inclusion on The Outsiders Tour, which consisted of The Ready Set, The Downtown Fiction, and Against The Current. On October 28, 2014, the band released the music video for a single “She Likes Girls”. On October 14, 2014, the group released an EP titled Gold.
The band performed on every date of the 2015 Warped Tour. The band released a new album, Savior on June 30, 2015. The album features 18 tracks, including the single “Getting Over You” featuring Ronnie Radke. From October 2015 to December 2015 the group toured with Falling in Reverse, Atilla, and Assuming We Survive. From January 2016 to February 2016 Metro Station toured with Never Shout Never, Jule Vera, and Waterparks.
Metro Station has announced that the band is in the process of recording an acoustic album.
The band announced on September 2, 2016, that they are set to tour again in October and November alongside Palaye Royale. The band announced they were breaking up in 2017.
Trace Cyrus Tattoos
Cyrus has many tattoos on his arms and chest, including the words “stay gold” tattooed on his knuckles. He displayed these designs for PETA’s “Ink Not Mink” anti-fur campaign in 2012. In 2006, he started working at a shopping mall in Burbank, California, and dropped out of La Cañada High School.
